FAQ's

Why is Little Echidna the BEST choice for my child’s early learning and care journey?

We are parents of young children too, so we truly understand how important this choice is, and what matters most to families. Trust, safety, and happiness matter just as much to us as they do to you!

Little Echidna has been thoughtfully created using both professional early learning knowledge and real parenting experience. Our decisions are guided by what we want for our own children - the very best!

Families choose Little Echidna because it feels right and offers a home-like and personalised experience.

Am I eligible to receive the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and/or any other fee relief?

Yes. Families enrolled at Little Echidna Early Learning Centre may be eligible for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), which helps reduce the cost of early learning and care.

Your individual CCS eligibility depends on factors such as your child’s age, immunisation status, family income, and the number of hours of recognised activity for you and your partner. All CCS payments are applied directly to your fees, so your family receives the benefit automatically. More information can be found on our CCS page.

How do you track and support my child’s learning and development?

We take a personalised approach to every child’s growth. EDUca is  the digital platform we use to document learning, milestones, and daily activities. Families received updates via the app throughout the day. This platform also allows educators to create developmental summaries and track progress across key areas, shared directly with families throughout the year.

Our staff also provide regular updates to families at pickup, and are always happy to discuss your child’s progress. Families are welcome to visit, observe, and engage with their child’s learning at any time, so you can see firsthand how your child is developing and thriving.

We believe in strong partnerships with families because your insight, combined with our expertise, helps every child reach their full potential. To learn more about how you'll be kept up to date, click here.

What does the enrolment and orientation process involve?

At Little Echidna, we make starting childcare simple and stress-free.

Enrolment involves completing forms with essential details, including medical information, emergency contacts, and any other special requirements.

Orientation gives your child a chance to explore our centre, meet their educators, and settle in at a comfortable pace. Families are encouraged to participate, ask questions, and get to know our routines, helping your child feel safe, happy, and ready to thrive from day one.

What should I bring on my child’s first day at Little Echidna?

To help your child feel comfortable and settled, we recommend bringing:

  • A change of clothes

  • Comfort items such as a hat or a favourite small toy

  • Sun-safe clothing and a water bottle

  • Any bottles, formula, or special food your child may need, though nutritious meals, and snacks are provided by our wonderful in-house cook.

  • Any relevant medical or health information

Further details can be found in our Enrolment Pack. This is provided to Little Echidna families at the end of their tour, or via email if a digital copy is preferred.
